Hall Sensor

A Hall-effect sensor is a solid-state device that measures magnetic fields to determine current. Its principle is based on the Hall effect. When a current-carrying conductor (the sensor's excitation current) is placed perpendicular to a magnetic field (generated by the current to be measured, IP), a voltage—the Hall voltage—is generated across the conductor. This voltage is directly proportional to the strength of the magnetic field, and thus, to the current that created it.

Product Features

    1. DC and AC Measurement: Unlike many inductive sensors, Hall-effect sensors can measure both direct current (DC) and alternating current (AC), making them highly versatile.

    2. Solid-State and Robust: With no moving parts or windings, they are highly reliable, durable, and have a long operational lifespan.

    3. Non-Intrusive and Isolated: They provide inherent electrical isolation between the measured current circuit and the sensor's output signal, enhancing safety.

Common Applications

Hall-effect current sensors are found in a wide array of modern systems:

    1. Motor Drives: Precisely controlling speed and torque in brushless DC motors and industrial motor drives.

    2. Current Monitoring: In battery management systems (BMS), solar inverters, and power supplies for protection and control.

    3. Automotive Systems: Used for monitoring current in electric power steering, battery packs in EVs, and charging systems.
