Product Overview

The  series of low voltage transformer are specially designed for the measurement of 0.4KV low-voltage power lines of the State Grid, and are used in conjunction with the charging electric energy meter of the power supply system to meet the requirements of the State Grid's automation verification and intelligent storage. The product is cast in one piece with unsaturated resin to meet the requirements of voltage insulation grade. The secondary terminal is covered with a transparent wiring cover and then sealed with lead to prevent electricity theft. The product adopts high-quality high-permeability magnetic core, the accuracy level is 0.2S and 0.p6S, and the performance fully meets the requirements of the State Grid Corporation of China's enterprise standard Q/GDW572-2010.

1. Working Principle

  1. Electromagnetic Induction

    • Like other types of transformers, a low voltage transformer operates based on Faraday’s law of electromagnetic induction.

    • It consists of a primary coil and a secondary coil wound on the same magnetic core. When alternating current flows through the primary coil, it creates an alternating magnetic flux in the core, which induces voltage in the secondary coil.

  2. Voltage Conversion

    • By changing the turns ratio between the primary and secondary coils, the transformer can step down or step up voltage. For example, converting 220V to 24V, 12V, or even lower, commonly used for electronic devices or lighting systems.

  3. Electrical Isolation

    • Low voltage transformers often serve as an isolation device, preventing direct electrical shock from the high-voltage side to the low-voltage side, thereby improving safety.

  4. Stabilized Power Supply

    • Some low voltage transformers are designed with voltage regulation functions, ensuring a stable output voltage to protect sensitive devices.

2. Application Scenarios

  1. Lighting Systems

    • Widely used in LED lighting, stage lights, garden lights, and low-voltage track lighting (e.g., 12V, 24V systems), offering both safety and energy efficiency.

  2. Power Supply for Electronic Devices

    • Provides low-voltage AC or DC power for home appliances, doorbells, audio systems, surveillance cameras, and similar equipment.

  3. Industrial Control and Automation

    • Essential for PLC systems, sensors, instruments, and factory electromechanical equipment that typically require 24V or 12V power supplies.

  4. Safety Power Systems

    • In medical equipment, laboratories, and construction sites, low voltage transformers deliver isolated power, reducing the risk of electric shock.

  5. Renewable Energy and Battery Charging

    • Applied in solar systems, UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply), and energy storage batteries for power conversion and isolation.

Summary:
A low voltage transformer essentially uses electromagnetic induction to achieve voltage conversion and electrical isolation, with the main purpose of safe and efficient power delivery. It is widely applied in lighting, home appliances, industrial control, safety power systems, and renewable energy, making it an indispensable component of modern electrical systems.
